In the early days, generally the first book recommended. Gives you a good idea of where John and Richard started.

If you REALLY love delving into the smallest details of how things work, these are the books for you. Volumes one and two detail what is called, in NLP, the META MODEL, or the deep meanings of word choices and language patterns. Personally, I like things honed down to the simplest terms, so that's how I teach this subject which is covered in my 2 reports on language power.

Like I said previously, if you love detail, this is for you.

Very John, primarily from his perspective. Very interesting and useful for you to understand the incredible power of hypnosis. I love the book and in fact received the Master Practitioner of Hypnosis from John, but in my personal evolution have ended up dropping "formal"  hypnosis almost entirely. Turns out that I really like you to be in charge of yourself in all the change work you do, so that's just how my personal style has developed.

Unlike her later publications, which are entirely too complicated for *me* to wade through, this book (as far as I know, Leslie's earliest work) is deeply insightful and delivered in a clear, simple manner (my favorite). Highly recommended for anyone doing any kind of couples therapy.

Another very interesting and useful book for understanding hypnosis and hypnotic techniques. I'd love to offer "Conversations with Milton Erickson, volumes 1,2 & 3, as well, but they are out of print. If you know anyone who has them or can find them in a second hand book store, don't miss them.

More of John's form. As always with John, FASCINATING and really useful for enhancing your ability to understand and use the multiple *subconscious* meanings of any communication.

Vintage Richard, Brilliant and laugh-out-loud reading as he points to how easily we mess ourselves up and consequently, how easy it can be for us to fix *it*. I personally never recommend that you use what Richard calls "submodalities" on your own until you have a enough of a  working knowledge of your own psychological and emotional system to maintain your personal ecology through deep change work. This book is a perfect introduction to the concepts and amazing individual abilities that you own and control.

For business, a great book. Again, taking complex patterns and re-stating in clear and simple language (my favorite). An easy read if you find the subject even vaguely interesting. This book was written in collaboration with John.   Highly recommended.
